Ranjit Shetty, a Mechanical Engineer and an MMS in Finance (from
Mumbai University), spent over 15 years in the corporate world. He
had worked in companies of the Mafatlal Group, HDFC Bank, Birla Sun
Life Insurance, and finally, the ASK Group (erstwhile ASK Raymond

He quit his corporate career in early 2010 and along with a close
friend set up the Chanakya Institute of Public Leadership (CIPL),
with a vision to create leaders for India. The Institute under the
aegis of the Department of Philosophy, University of Mumbai, used to
conduct a unique six-month free residential program to train public
leaders (political & social) based on the Kautilya (Chanakya)
Arthashastra. In 2013 the Institute was featured in ‘Euro News’, a
leading European Channel as one of the ‘Three Unique Leadership’
programs globally.
In 2012 as an extension to the social orientation, he ventured into the space of Waste Management and Renewable Energy and subsequently into Agriculture. The objective was to Clean India’s cities and empower its farmers while providing energy security. In the course of the journey, the initiatives have been rewarded with global IPRs in the space of biogas, organic fertilizers, and dry waste processing. While the venture has its operations in Municipal Corporations of Mumbai, Pune, and Bangalore, Ranjit travels extensively into the heartlands of India working to improve farm productivity; help farmers adopt healthy and sustainable farming practices, besides increasing their income.
